...international wine competition, which was first time in the Czech republic.

The competition was founded by Louis Havaux and first held in April 1994 in Bruges.

In 2006, the organizers decided to expand the international influence of the competitions by traveling outside Belgium. It was successfull and for more than 10 years the competition has been "traveling" throughout Europe: Lisbon, Maastricht, Bordeaux, Valencia, Palermo, Luxembourg, Guimarães, Bratislava, Jesolo, Plovdiv and Valladolid.

In 2018, a new milestone was reached when the competition traveled outside Europe - to Beijing, China.

In 2020, the Czech Republic was chosen as the host country and the evaluation of wines took place from 4 to 6 September in Brno. Despite "covid" restrictions, an international competition was held with the participation of 8,500 wine samples from 46 countries.

The Volařík winery won three gold medals for wine:

Welschriesling - Terroir Železná 2018

Riesling - Terroir Purmice 2018

Gruner Sylvaner 2018

and two silver medals for:

Welschriesling - Zimní vrch 2017

Pálava - Terroir U Venuse 2018

Wines are available in the winery's e-shop.
